Extra large piano caster cups, designed for larger dual wheel grand piano casters. These are the largest caster cups on the market.

These 7.5" Jansen High Polish Grand Piano Caster Cups are made of solid maple, and measure 7-1/2 inches in diameter, with an inside diameter of 5-1/2 inches. You can measure the diameter of your wheels, and verify they will fit within the 5.5" inner bowl. The next size down are the 5.5" outer diameter Jansen piano caster cups, which have an inner diameter of 3-3/8". If your wheels will fit in the smaller cups, you would want to get that size (these are for very large dual wheel casters. With an overall diameter of 7.5", they made look a little odd if you put smaller wheels in them).

Please note these extra-wide piano caster cups are custom-made upon your order. Manufacturing time can take 2-3 weeks.

Hard to find, these large piano caster cups offer the ultimate in floor protection for a heavy grand piano, and with their beautiful finish and polish, are the perfect aesthetic accessory to compliment and highlight your piano and its finish.

NOTE: Price is per piano caster cup

Our hardwood piano caster cups are manufactured in the United States in the Jansen factory--using the same high-quality woods, finishes, and attention to detail that go into the world-renowned Jansen piano benches. These piano caster cups use superior hardwood from the East Coast of the United States and are finished with a professional, furniture-quality stain.

When choosing a caster cup, the most important factor is the quality of the wood. Not only does a smaller wood grain look better, it also takes a stain better (certain types of woods also take a stain better as well). That is why American and Canadian hardwoods are the best choice for both caster cups and piano benches. This is especially true if you are getting a mahogany or walnut caster cup, where you see the actual wood grain in the Jansen cups--you will not see the grain in the sprayed-on, thick solid finishes of the imported Chinese caster cups.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I determine the right size caster cup for my piano?

  • Piano caster cups have two measurements—an overall outer diameter and an inner diameter (bowl area). You need to make sure your piano wheel’s diameter and depth measurements fit within the inner diameter of the cup.
  • In general, some space is needed between the wheel and walls of the cup. As the inside of caster cups are often tapered, an exact fit will not match—and would make for difficult installation. We recommend at least a quarter inch difference between the diameter of the inner caster cups and your wheels. For example, if your piano caster's are 2" wide, you need a caster cup that has an inner-diameter of at least 2.25".

What are the largest piano caster cups available?

These 7.5" Extra Large Caster Cups are the biggest piano caster cups on the market. Designed specifically for dual-wheel casters and heavy concert grands, they provide unmatched surface area to distribute weight and protect flooring under even the heaviest pianos.

When should I use 7.5-inch caster cups instead of 5.5-inch or smaller sizes?

If your piano has dual-wheel casters that won't fit in the 5.5" cups, or weighs over 1,000 pounds, 7.5" cups offer the best weight distribution. They're ideal for institutions, performance venues, and churches where pianos are frequently used but rarely moved — and where floor protection is critical.

Will these caster cups scratch my floors?

No, our caster cups are designed with felt or smooth-sanded bottoms to prevent scratches and damage to your flooring.

Do I need caster cups for my piano?

Yes, caster cups are essential for protecting your floors from the weight and movement of your piano. They help distribute the piano's weight evenly and prevent damage to hardwood, tile, or carpeted surfaces.

Do high-quality piano caster cups really make a difference?

Definitely. Premium caster cups not only protect your floors and stabilize your piano, but also enhance the overall look of your setup. In contrast, cheap plastic or wood versions can look out of place, crack under weight, or even scratch and stain hardwood floors.

What are the best piano caster cups for hardwood floors?

Hardwood piano caster cups are the best choice for hardwood floors. Their wide base and durable construction help distribute the piano’s weight evenly, preventing dents and scratches. Models with felt bottoms offer added protection and stay firmly in place without marking your floor.
